As a Principal of the Open High School with the New South Wales Department of Education and Training, as well as throughout his incredible 32 year career, Suzan has consistently demonstrated the vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be considered among the best.

Open High School is a New South Wales Department of Education and Training secondary distance education school offering courses in 13 languages to students in Years 9 - 12, and is located in the eastern Sydney suburb of Randwick. The school offers students who are unable to access their chosen language in their own school the ability to study via distance education. Students access their learning materials via the school's online learning management system, Moodle, phone lessons with their teacher and study days held at the school.

Suzan is responsible for managing all major aspects of the school as well as overseeing the daily operations, the professional development of staff. As Principal, she has the pleasure of meeting students from all over the state as they visit the school for study days, examinations and one on one meetings with their teachers. Suzan is continually impressed with their commitment to the study of their chosen language and the time they dedicate to completing set tasks and optional activities.

During her collegiate career, Suzan earned a Master of Management and Leadership degree in Education from the University of Newcastle. She is a member of the Australian Curriculum Studies Association and ZONTA International. Suzan's background is in English and History and she has taught students in both metropolitan and regional high schools as well as pre service teachers at Macquarie University.

Suzan's success is due to a continuing fascination with lifelong learning. As a teacher, she never taught the same topic in the same way twice, always looking for new and interesting ways to engage her students. As a leader, Suzan is always looking for new ways to challenge and motivate herself and her staff members.
